Guru - A Review.....!!
Guru bhai - though it sounds rhythamic with "Thirubhai" - it doesnt have to do much with the latter, but borrows a narrow baseline from it. It is a typical Maniratnam's opening, i mean to say that his disclaimer " Characthers are truely fictional - not mean to represent any living or other persons ". Given the disclaimer you can arrive at a conclusion where & whom the man points to!!.
This is a story about a High school dropout interested in earning money and doing business, without the knowledge of English - a fully swadeshi, latter proclaims to build the business samraj of Hindusthan..!. The story goes like this, Guru (Abishek Bacchan) from a village in Gujarat, goes to Turkey seeking petty jobs, he gets one in an oil company does his assigned job fine and earns a promotion in his company. At this time he refuses it and comes back to his
home inview of establishing his own business. For want of money he marries Aishwarya rai and then story pickes the track. Inorder to esatblish his business he goes for public offering, with some false claims both to the Government and public. This was later turn to light by Madhavan in his print media who deos a cameo apperance as a young reporter. Finally an enquiry comission was set up for the allegations levelled against Gurubhai and the tagline of story is how Gurubhai faces the commission and his stakeholders and re-establishes his business samraj..!!
Being a Maniratnam film everybody fits their roles, except that Bachan could have taken some more pains when he was arguing in the commission.
Mallika sherawat does a guest appearance to "Mariya Mariya" song which is the opening song of the film. Aishwarya does a fine dancing in the rain song "tunnari tunnari...: (cherography: Brinda). Some of its steps remembers me of her dance in "Kandukonden kandukonden"(Tamil). Madhavan was quite natural with his pair VidyaBalan. She dons a role of an paralysed CNS affected girl who is waiting for her fate to end, and to the surprise of all eyes he has a gentle kissing scene with the latter.
Angles of RajivMenon take us to all places and all angles where human eyes couldnt see....! e was as like as he was always...!. And Rahman once agin scintilledour ears with his 4 songs. I cant comment about the Lyrics....- so (Lyrics :) Gulzhar is good or bad i dunno...! :-)
Another song ( Tere bina (sung by chinmayi - tamil girl)) remembers me of "Snehitane... from Alaipaythe " (Tamil) with same visual sequences & costumes... Director could have look on to this.
Dialogues - i cant comment i m still a novice to camment on Hindhi dialogues and rarely i know the who's who of Bollywood. Still certain points are too good to give applause to his credit.. like... " aapp panch minute tho tho... mai sade char minute katham ogaya... aur thes minute bakki... ; ye thes minute profit hotha hai..business may ! " - this clearly indicates the business mind of Guru.
Everyone can give a good three hours to catch the life of Guru... which was portrayed to be in late 60's.
As always comments are welcome....!!!!
