Today I came across two interesting pieces of information. First one is about Orkut,(The Mid-day,Mumbai). It is about how the Mumbai cops were able zero in on the criminal who murdered his girl friend. Actually our intelligent cops have looked for the victims contacts in her orkut page, about her scrap history and testimonials and thus they were able to pin point or corner the criminal. The Irony in this story is that the culprit is a navalJunior commision officer.
So apart from social networking Orkut in India is also emerging as social investigation site!.
The second one is about a blog of an US soldier ( The Hindu,Bangalore). His blog has been selected for the Blooker award (in lines with Booker, its counterpart for blogs) for the emotional description of his involvement in the war against Iraq. Again irony in this story is his blog was banned by US DoD with in a week of its inception, but before that it got its deserved publicity!
