SriRamaswamy temple has rich paintings depicting scenes from Ramayanam. And the statue of God is a must see for its architectural beauty. It’s a must see temple in Kumbakonam ( I would recommend). I enjoyed seeing the God in sanctum sanctorium.
Then we moved to Sri Saragapani temple which is again one among the 108 divyadesams.
If Sri Oppilyappan avoids salt in his foods for the true devotion of his baktha then this perumal does the “thithi” rituals ( darpanam & upavasam ) for one of his bakthan who died on his feet. Yet again I planned to visit this temple as it is rich in architectural marvels ( sannadhi itself in the form of a ratham). Azhwars have enjoyed this perumal as “aravaamudan” whose literal meaning is that whatever number of times we see him he doesn’t het bored. We can still enjoy them. But I still now prefer sri namperumal of srirangam followed by sri Veeraragavar of Trivellore, in this category.
Thus ended our second day’s trip in Kumbakonam. Back to Govt. Guest house.!
Third day we started as yearly as 7.30 headed towards Mayiladuthurai aka Mayavaram.
On this way lies some landmarks
1. Aduthurai ( Rice research center )
2. Thirupuvanam ( famous for silks )
3. Thiruvidaimrudhur ( famous Sivan temple )
4. Minister Ko.si.Mani’s house ( J )
We had breakfast at Hotel pams, then moved to lord Mayuranathar temple. It’s one among the big temples in Tamilnadu. Its governed by famous Dharumapuram adihnam.
We spent the hole day in this temple and enjoyed the whole ambience and again here annadhana scheme is implemented with great usefulness ( though it is not under HR department of state ). Finally back in Kumbakonam at 7.30 to catch the Rockfort exp.
Actually I thought of sharing lot of interesting informations but I’m keeping it in short.
Yet again I m planning for another trip to Kumbakonam in the future. Even if its for a week its not enough to cover all the temples in the Kumbakonam-Tanjore-thiruvarur belt. Thirukadayur and Thirupananthal are the two main temples which I missed in this trip. I hope to cover them in the next trip.
