SHIVAJI - Review

Just now I watched a preview of ‘Shivaji’ which is going to be screened here from tomorrow (22.06.07), officially. It’s a back to Home feeling, with typical whistles & shouting of ‘thalaiva’ amidst a hall full of Tamil people!
As per the thumb rule we should not look for stories or the logics in a Rajini film. But by chance if u expects one for Shankar’s sake, then you are optimistic! Indeed it has a story but the screenplay is little weird.
It’s the story about a young ‘software system architect’, returning from USA, with 250 crores (!) with a noble purpose of spending the money to the upliftment of poor. He faces though times with the villain (Suman) and was made a pauper, overnight. The storm starts here which finally settles up in accounting all the black money amidst the corrupt people!
Hero is looking for a Tamil cultured girl, to marry and finds ‘Tamizhselvi’ (shreya) and with twists & turns marry her. But I observed that ‘Nayanthara’ (brand new – very slim) in the introduction song could have best suited for that character except for Shreys's flirting dance movements .
As usual SS strikes the rod with his trade mark comedies – good entertaining factor for the first half. (Don’t miss SS comedies with shreya’s family!). The favorite punch dialogues are this time given to ‘Vivek’ who mouths Rajini. Sujatha’s dialogues are very matching the sequences with timing words!(kaun hai..?? poda kenai!!! – especially this received a round of laughter’s in the hall!).
In the first fight SS can be sported with a little big tummy. (may be because he was a software engineer). But director could have made a note of this. Thottdharani rocks with ‘vaji vaji’ settings. Simply awesome!.
The second half track changes from comedy to action. Its time for the BOSS to take some cool revenges!. Please watch them how in the movie. Shankar is very sentimental (scientimental??) about graphics in his films. We can quote ‘Muquabla’ in ‘Kadalan’,’Maya macheendra’ in ‘Indian’,’Mudalvane’ in ‘Mudalvan’, ‘Kannodu’ in ‘Jeans’ & ‘boom boom’ in ‘Boys’. The latest addition to the list is ‘Athiradikaran’ in ‘Shivaji’. Frame to frame – graphics – each suiting well for SS.
This film has very natural introduction scene for SS. Though it suits the story well, we as fans expects a grand opening for him!, similarly 'Balelaka' song needed more natural visual sequences, instead of that hight paint costumes. Visual sequences doesn't match the lyrics of Muthukumar, except for the 'dhavani girl' Nayanthara. She is simply coooll..with that smile.!!
NO Logics:
Don’t think about how he could have earned 250 crores in so little time!
The CBI team arrests SS & produces his Laptop as an evidence, without knowing what it contents as it is password protected & later struggles in vain to unlock it!
(As I said earlier we should not look for Logics in Rajini film – but for Shankar’s sake – he could have look on to it..!. May be he could have thought no people would think about this!)
But finally,
A million kudos awaits Shankar to have shown Rajini back in his ‘Batsha’ days with superb costumes (Manish Malhotra) & the hair-styles (Mariaya Santro).
As a SS fan I am 200% entertained & satisfied. But still there is something which is missing from other Shankar’s film.
No need to mention about ARR’s background music. He simply broke the jinx created by him in Baba.
Shreya could easily top the list of sexiest heroines of Rajni.
I personally feel ‘oru kudai sunlight’ as a crap with some unsuitable costumes! – Its my personal feeling though it suits the story well.
The film ends with ‘kanavu meipada vendum’.
AMEN
Cool!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everybody can give entertaining 3 hours to watch thalaivar in action!

Tailpiece:
For the first time in my life I am spending a 3 digit amount to watch a film .

All for this magical cum magnetic letters R-A-J-I-N-I.!

A more seasoned review will follow after my second visit!

I could see lot of Tamil families with grandma & grandpa for the preview!.Its the charm of Rajini!

As always comments are welcome!
